South Island 2010

We had a very eventful trip to the South Island Feb/March which was punctuated by a series of gear failures (motor home mainly) which made the trip memorable for all the wrong reasons. The most annoying aspect was that the motor home had it’s annual check a couple of months before we left. Main problem was the inverter which malfunctioned and boiled the house batteries (which did not do them a lot of good) and this resulted in the fridge defrosting because of low voltage in the batteries.

The TV worked fine here at home before we left but in the South Island we could not get a signal so not able to watch : ‘Days of our Lives ‘, ‘The Simpsons’, ‘The Girls of the Playboy Mansion’ , our favourite programmes — not! Turned out the self seeking satellite dish had not been re-programmed when Sky changed the signal and we had not been informed that this needed to be done! It was fine in the North Island but not in the South Island. Anyway we got that sorted and it only took a week.
Had computer problems too. The desktop computer decided it was on holiday so I could not process any photos as I do not have Lightroom or Photoshop on the Laptop.

The following photos are a small selection including a few from a fund raising walk in Greymouth called the ‘Relay for Life’ which was well supported by the community with a large sum raised for the Cancer Society and a few other photos including one of a popular theme on the West Coast, the Anti 1080 message
