This beautiful Bay is encompassed by Mt Maungatawhiri to the north and Wharekaho headland to the south which is the site of historic Wharetaewa Pa visited by Captain Cook in 1769 and later attacked by northern tribes armed with muskets and all but a few of the inhabitants were slaughtered. Once again we were treated to another magnificent spectacle on the 10th and 11th of April.
